The East Midlands is one of the best places to invest in property in the UK at the moment, with Nottingham standing out particularly. During the last year, sold prices in Nottingham were 5% up on the previous year and 9% over the last few years. We’ve managed to source an absolute gem of a deal for our clients.

Notitngham, home to companies such as Boots, Experian and Eon — its economy is diverse. The cobbled streets of the Lace Market buildings and nearby Hockley and Sneinton Market were designated a Creative Quarter in 2012. A city fund has provided £9.5m for workspaces for the new creative and digital industries. A former Boots building is now a BioCity, with labs and offices for more than 200 life-sciences companies.

A 10-minute walk northeast of the station, Hockley and the Lace Market are popular with the young and trendy: think soya-latte-sipping entrepreneurs, free wi-fi and artisan bakers. It has Georgian townhouses, vintage shops, an art-house cinema, a lace-patterned concrete arts centre (Nottingham Contemporary), cool bars and a Rough Trade music shop. Nearby are a burgeoning number of microbreweries.

With two universities, Nottingham is one of the youngest cities in Britain: 50% of the population are under 30. It has family attractions, too — sandstone caves, the 17th-century ducal mansion known as the Castle, and Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan pile featured in the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, where deer and toddlers roam free.

Nestled beneath the Castle is Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, one of several claimants to the title of oldest pub in the country. Dining out at restaurants such as Sat Bains, the Larder and Hart’s are drawing in foodies. And summer brings three music festivals, Dot-to-Dot, Splendour and No Tomorrow.

An extremely well connected city, Nottingham is accessible by rail, tram, bus and air. Nottingham’s transport system has recently undergone an extensive revamp to make it one of the most efficient in the country. Its system was modernised at a cost of £200 million to establish the Nottingham Express Transit, and the main train station is undergoing a £50m transformation to improve its appearance, making transport seamless for the city’s residents. However, this system does not just benefit local residents—Nottingham is a hotbed for tourism, with many tourists using the transport system to visit Nottingham’s many famous landmarks. The tourism industry in Nottingham is pivotal to the city’s lifeblood, contributing around £139m annually to the local economy.

The station, two hours from London, has had a £60m overhaul; and a £150m upgrade to the A453, which connects to the M1, is almost ready. The city centre is largely pedestrianised, but Nottingham also has the largest fleet of electric buses in Europe, and a tram line that will cover 19 miles by the end of this year.
